Sonia E. Varlamos, D.D.S., M.D.S.
Dr. Varlamos has been practicing periodontics in the Larchmont area for over 10 years. She received two degrees from Columbia University; her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery and her Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College. She completed her specialty training in periodontics and earned a Master of Dental Science degree from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Varlamos is board certified in periodontics. She is also an active officer of numerous local dental societies and also a member of various national societies, such as the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration and the American Dental Association. She is a member of Larchmont Chamber of Commerce and a Larchmont Rotarian.
Dr. Varlamos is also involved in lecturing in the fields of periodontics and implant dentistry to hospitals and dental societies. She particularly enjoys lecturing on the periodontal-systemic connection. She focused primarily on the topic of cardiovascular disease and its association with periodontal disease in her residency program at UCONN. Her contributing research in the area is soon to be published in medical literature.
Dr. Varlamos is a native of New Rochelle and lives in Westchester County with her husband, Dr. Tasios Vakkas, who is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. She is fluent in Greek and also speaks Spanish. She is a first-degree black belt in the martial art of Tae-Kwon Do, and she loves to travel, cook, and practice yoga and Pilates.
David F. Erwich, D.M.D.
Dr. Erwich has been practicing periodontics in New Rochelle for over 35 years. Following a military commitment in the Air Force stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi, he completed his specialty training in periodontics at Tufts University School of Dentistry in Boston. His Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree (DMD) was earned at the University of Pittsburgh and his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Buffalo.
He has been a periodontal specialist attending at New Rochelle Hospital for many years. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, he and his wife, Vera, a high school special education teacher, have lived most of their adult lives as residents of Westchester County, New York. They have two children, Craig and Melissa, both of whom are involved in various phases of the television industry.
His hobbies include golf, theater, travel and being a doting grandfather to four incredible grandchildren.
