Meet Dr. Varlamos

Sonia E. Varlamos, D.D.S., M.D.S.

Dr. Varlamos has been practicing periodontics in the Larchmont area for over 15 years. She received two degrees from Columbia University; her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (DDS) from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery and her Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College. She completed her specialty training in Periodontics and earned a Master of Dental Science degree from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Varlamos is Board Certified in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. She is also an active officer of numerous local dental societies and also a member of various national societies, such as the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration , American Dental Association and American Academy of Facial Esthetics.

Dr. Varlamos is also involved in lecturing in the fields of periodontics and implant dentistry . She particularly enjoys lecturing on the periodontal-systemic connection. She focused primarily on the topic of cardiovascular disease and its association with periodontal disease in her residency program at UCONN.

Dr. Varlamos is a native of New Rochelle and lives in Westchester County with her husband, Dr. Tasios Vakkas, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon (learn more at www.yorktownoralsurgery.com) and their two daughters. She is fluent in Greek and also speaks Spanish. She is a first-degree black belt in the martial art of Tae-Kwon Do, and she loves to travel, cook, and practices Pilates.
